IOSH Membership Renewal

How to renew your membership subscription

If you’re registered with MyIOSH, IOSH will let you know when your membership is due for renewal and you’ll be able to renew quickly and securely online when you log in. You’ll also see a ‘Renew now’ link in the ‘My details’ box on the MyIOSH page when you’re logged in.

When you renew online you’ll be able to change your membership details (like the groups you’re a member of), pay securely with a credit or debit card at a time to suit you, and get an immediate online receipt which you can print or save.

You can also renew your membership by post or by calling IOSH.

If your normal currency is not sterling, it’s best if you pay online by credit card. Your renewal fee will automatically be converted to sterling using the latest currency rates.

If you’re paying in sterling, you can also pay the renewal fee by cheque or postal order (made payable to IOSH).

To pay in Euros or by bank draft, email the Membership team or call +44 (0)116 257 3198.

Current annual IOSH Membership renewals rate for 2017 – 2018

  • Affiliate Member £95
  • Associate Member £115
  • Technical Member £115
  • Graduate Member* £115
  • Chartered Member £140
  • Chartered Fellow £153

Tax relief for UK based members

If you’re a member in the UK who pays your own membership subscription, you can claim back tax relief at your marginal rate (either 20% or 40%). For a renewal fee of £153, that’s either a £31 (20%) or £62 (40%) tax saving per year against the cost of your membership.

To obtain the tax benefit, you should make your claim:

  • Using a Self-Assessment tax return if you already fill one in
  • Online or by printing and posting form P87 if you don’t already fill in a tax return
  • By phone if you’ve had a successful claim in a previous year and your expenses are less than £1,000 (or £2,500 for professional fees and subscriptions)

To Upgrade Your IOSH Membership Status

To upgrade your membership status, you will need to apply for upgrade to IOSH, stating the membership level you want to upgrade to attaching an updated copy of your CV and a good copy of your credentials. You can forward this in mail to: membership@iosh.co.uk

If you are not sure that you are qualified for a particular membership level, IOSH can help you check. IOSH will check whether your qualifications and experience meet the requirements for other membership levels (Associate, Technical or Graduate membership). All you need to do is send an up to date copy of your CV along with your certificates for any relevant qualifications to: membership@iosh.co.uk. IOSH do not need your original documents – good quality copies are acceptable.

Once IOSH receive your application, they will then review your qualifications and experience to decide if you’re eligible for Associate, Technical or Graduate membership. They will let you know the outcome within six working weeks of receipt. You will remain in your current category of membership until IOSH confirm that your application to change category has been successful.
