  1. Dear Sir /Madam this is George Ibraheem / currently the Iraqi Branch Manager for Samsung engineering co ltd /IQ Branch office my official email is :george.ib@samsung.com ,My basic background is an Automation engineer and i deal before with process So my main question is :What is the relationship between HSEor HSSE and Hazop study aslong as both interested in how to protect site workers and secure the equipment from upnormal condition
    thanks in advance

    • HSE/HSSE is an umbrella which HAZOP study is a part.

HAZOP study is a component of the process safety management.

NOTE: Process safety management (PSM) is a part of Health, Safety and Environment Management (HSE/HSSE)

  2. Thank you for the many useful information on HSE.
I wish to have some clarification on when to categorise an incident as Minor Accident or First Aid case. Example of such confused incident is a small cut on the skin obtained when a staff was attempting force out a stock item. Another is an internal pain on the foot resulting from an impact from a structural steel member. In both cases only first aid treatment was offered.

    • First aid case is any accident which result to minor injury, i.e, Injury that can be treated and the injured person is able to return to work within 24 hours. If the injured person cannot return to his full activity within 24 hours, it is no more a first aid case

Based on this explanation, you can easily pick which is a first aid case and which is not.

  3. Ubong Edet,
Thank you for the explanation to Engr. Ini Anthony’s question. Any case which cannot be given first aid case result is medical case in which the victim undergo medical treatment and is recorded as a Medical Treatment Case (MTC). But minor cut or a hit by an object which does not hinder normal work has only first aid treatment and the victim returns to work.
Both are recordable accidents in the organization’s statistics of incidence reporting. Moreover, it does not result in LTI (i.e. Lost Time Injury). Another point of understanding here is that this minor injury should not be recorded as illness – which is referred to as non-work related sickness that can cause one to stop from work, but should be recorded under First Aid Cases.
Thanks for being a good Safety Professional.
