Description

 

Responsible for technical management and oversight of assigned food safety certification programs, primarily the SQF Certification Program. (audits, certifications, accreditation, etc.)
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Assist in the selection of those working and in Supply Chain Food Safety certification programs as well as assist in the monitoring and evaluating of performance. 
  • Conduct initial and on-going technical training to maintain a competent and high integrity workforce. 
  • Develop and implement technical interpretations to properly and consistently deliver interpretations for relevant programs and standards.
  • Manage the technical requirements of the certification/accreditation processes to ensure consistency as well as compliance to relevant internal and external requirements.
  • Review records, reports, and other documentation, as needed, to substantiate and authorize certification/accreditation. Participate in development, implementation and revisions of certification/accreditation policies.
  • Develop standard operating procedures detailing the processes impacted in the technical operation of new programs and standards.
  • Review and assist with development of new protocols, accreditations, work instructions and documentation.
  • Work with Business Development and Marketing teams regarding technical matters.
  • Deliver presentations to manufacturers, trade associations, regulatory agencies, product user groups, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as technical liaison to NSF Standards department during certification/accreditation activities, liaise with industry standard owners and implement process changes when required.
  • Represent NSF to committees, industry task groups, associations or other external stakeholder groups as assigned.

Other responsibilities that may be relevant:

  • Develop and implement technical interpretations for appropriate programs and standards.
  • Establish productivity and quality expectations for team members. Analyze results to ensure ongoing compliance with certification/accreditation and regulatory requirements and established business turn-times.
  • Make certification/accreditation determinations and conduct inspections/audits as assigned.
  • Serve as primary regulatory interface with accreditation and government bodies.
  • Write responses for accreditation audit findings and complaints inclusive of applicable implementation and revisions to standard operating procedures.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:
 
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental health, food science or related field.
  2. 5 years’ experience with food safety & quality based auditing programs.
  3. Two (2) years supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  6. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  1. Advanced degree, e.g., Master’s degree in business or the sciences.
  2. Strong working knowledge of food safety certification schemes (i.e. SQF, BRC, FSSC, etc)
  3. Extensive knowledge of NSF policies and services.
  4. Experience with managing a business or business unit.
