Safe Work Australia: Prioritize Work Safety this Month

Prioritize Work Safety this Month

Safe Work Australia is encouraging all Australians, including those in Brimbank, to make safety the focus this month as part of National Safe Work Month.

Held every October, National Safe Work Month is an opportunity for workplaces across Australia to come together and celebrate their work health and safety successes.

This year’s National Safe Work Month theme, ‘safety is everyone’s business’, is calling on workplaces right across the country to make workplace safety their number one priority.

Work-related injuries and fatalities have impacts on individuals, families and the broader community that reverberate in every direction.

Chief Executive of Safe Work Australia, Marie Boland, believes that a safe and healthy workplace has many more added benefits.

“This year we want workplaces to think about safety as part of the everyday business of their workplace – creating a safe and healthy workplace that is free from physical and psychological harm benefits everyone,” Ms Boland said.

“Having a safe and healthy workplace is a core right of all workers, irrespective of occupation and industry,” she said.

According to the statistics from Safe Work Australia, there were 200 work-related deaths in Australia during 2023, and 139,000 serious workers’ compensation claims were filed.

This includes acting to make workplaces free of physical and psychological harm.
