Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Terracon is growing and hiring an experienced training professional for our Seattle, WA Argus Pacific office! The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for planning and delivering various occupational and environmental training workshops to a variety of private- and public-sector clients. Knowledge or experience in the following areas is required:
WA L&I and OSHA safety and health regulations, EPA and OSHA hazardous materials/waste regulations, and instructional training and design of classes and workshops for adults.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:
Apply knowledge of Adult Learning Principles and formal instructional design methodologies to effectively deliver face-to-face health and safety training.
Deliver training programs multiple days per week employing a variety of instructional techniques and formats including face-to-face presentations, facilitating class discussions, group exercises, videos and hands-on activities.
Prepare for and conduct hands-on training exercises involving simulated asbestos abatement activities, hazardous materials clean-up activities and advanced personal protective equipment and respiratory protection (such as for HAZWOPER or asbestos training).
Define learning needs, determine gaps, and identify potential interventions to achieve performance objectives.
Partner with the training team, field management and subject matter experts to develop training resources designed to equip new and existing employees and our clients with the skills and competencies needed for success.
Work as a team member in accomplishing training department goals and maintenance activities.
Create and update content for existing and new classes that may include specific reading assignments, dynamic and accurate slide presentations, individual and group exercises, course exams and quizzes, course handouts and hands-on simulation exercises.
Develop interactive learning for presentation via web conferencing.
Create and deliver a positive, fun and rewarding training experience.
Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Support and participate in the instructional design process.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, safety management, organizational development, learning and development, training, adult or secondary education or related field and two years’ experience developing and delivering learning.
Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years’ training and development experience is required.
Specific knowledge of OSHA health and safety and EPA environmental regulations is required.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, government regulations and technical procedures.
Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Communicate with students and clients oriented toward providing responsive, respectful and professional customer service.
Background and knowledge in hazardous waste and hazardous materials management/response, asbestos abatement safety and inspections, lead paint safety and inspections, physical safety hazards (such as fall protection, ladders, confined spaces, trenching & excavation, electrical, scaffolding, etc), personal protective equipment and respiratory protection is preferred.
Background and knowledge of supporting regulatory and industry standards that underpin class content is preferred.
Occasional travel is required.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry boxes of class supplies and equipment is required.
