If you’re an Safety Engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry, then this role is a chance to develop your technical skills whilst working for an industry leader.

What’s the role?

The (Prelude) Technical Safety Engineer position is part of the Technical Safety Function in Shell Australia providing Technical Safety Engineering support for the Prelude FLNG asset to manage Major Accident Hazard (MAH) risks.

Some of the key deliverables and responsibilities of this role are:

Technical Safety Engineering (TSE) Technical Authority 3 for the Prelude FLNG asset

Provide TSE expertise to the asset to manage the risks of MAHs to ALARP in line with company and Regulatory requirements

Provide TSE support to the management of change process, SCE deviation management and SCE management

Under direction of the Senior TSE, maintain / update the HEMP Studies supporting the Safety Case, including Bow-Ties

Facilitate HEMP workshops such as HAZID, Bow-Ties and Process Safety Reviews

Providing TSE input to engineering and operational documents as part of review cycle

Undertake consequence modelling

Undertake ALARP demonstrations and ad-hoc technical risk assessments

Maintain an effective internal and external network with asset TSE peers

Collaborate with peers in the Safety Function on common approaches to tools & procedures


What we need from you

Technical Engineering or Advanced Science Degree or higher qualification

Masters in Safety and Risk Engineering would be advantageous

Experience in Safety Engineering, ideally in an LNG/Upstream engineering and/or production operation application

Experience with, and commitment to, engineering systems and procedures, particularly with respect to Asset Management and Asset Integrity

Expertise in facilitating various risk assessment techniques (Bow-Ties, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, Etc)

Working knowledge of the NOPSEMA Offshore Safety Case.
