This is a key Safety and Sustainability Unit (SSU) leadership role that actively works with field operations to identify and mitigate health, safety and environmental (HSE) risks. This SSU leadership position is integral in driving cultural change at the field level and working in a manner that is proactive, preventative, and results-oriented.
Position is based out of the Three Rivers, TX office and operates under a standard Monday-Friday, non-rotational schedule.
Provide guidance and leadership related to the safety and sustainability requirements in the US Onshore Safe Practices Manual, work requirements, and/or requirements established through an applicable bridging document.
Lead and manage Field SSU Representatives. Communicate, clarify, and drive the completion of agreed upon goals and objectives.
Drive efforts with the line that develop and embed sustainable processes and best-practices that lead to a reduction of incidents in the field.
Engage and communicate with the line organization regarding current and upcoming work activities in the field. Assess the risk of the activity set and utilize the information to coordinate the daily work activities of Field SSU Representatives.
Proactively assess potential performance gaps related to regulatory requirements, internal work requirements, safe work practices, behaviors, equipment integrity, etc. and work directly with the line to lead and implement preventative measures to address any identified gaps.
Provide leadership and support to the line superintendents and supervisors with practical field deployment, implementation and interpretation of Statoil processes, systems, procedures and/or requirements.
Lead, participate, and/or support HSE training activities at the field level.
Provide leadership and challenge to the line as part of the risk management process. Periodically review the on-site risk assessment process and associated tools to identify and provide improvement opportunities and guidance to the line.
Provide incident investigation leadership and guidance to line superintendents and supervisors to assist with root cause analysis (RCA) process to support development of pertinent corrective and preventative actions.
Assist the line and on-scene personnel in emergency situations. Actively participate, support, and provide guidance during tactical emergency response efforts.
Conduct regular site visits to observe and measure performance in the field with the requirements of the requisite Safety Management System. Serve in a leadership capacity to advise the line and drive potential solutions for observed issues or trends.
Proactively assess and identify trends in incident data. Actively engage with line leadership to implement preventative solutions that reduce risk in the field.
Lead regulatory self-assessments at field locations and engage with line supervision to embed systematic corrective actions that ensure regulatory compliance.
Assist in contractor management in regards to HSE qualifications and onsite checks and reviews.

BS degree in Safety Engineering, Safety Sciences, Occupational Safety and Health, or other related technical degree
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred but not required
At least 5 years of experience supporting safety and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas industry
Strong practical knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, standards and best practices
Ability to live by “I am safety” expectations
Exceptional communication skills and ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization and with confidence, respect and integrity.
Ability to analyze information, solve problems, work in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and projects, manage time effectively and function effectively in stressful situations.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to drive organizational change.
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and deliver a variety of training topics.
