You will use your expertise to:
Assist in developing and supporting H&S initiatives and strategies
Participate in the H&S responsibilities associated with the contractor management process
Support processes such as serious injury fatality (SIF) control verifications, field level hazard assessment (FLHA) audits, safety observations, and inspections
Understand and apply Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) framework and Operational Discipline (OD) to support Suncor’s journey of Operational Excellence
Ensure incident classifications are aligned with our injury and illness classification guideline
Interpret, apply, and monitor compliance of H&S regulations
Support incident investigations
Determine SIF precursors and understand the circumstances, events, and actions that led to the incidents
Utilize site visits as an opportunity to mentor, reinforce, and intervene as needed
Guide incident owners and leaders in root-cause analysis and assignment of corrective action

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Ten years of safety-related field experience, including incident investigation, root cause analysis, hazard assessment, audits, field H&S assessments and interaction with regulators
A post-secondary certificate in an EH&S-related field
A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Proven knowledge of Enablon or similar incident management system
Outstanding knowledge of field hazards and controls in the context of the applicable H&S legislation
A continuous improvement attitude and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
Strong collaboration skills to encourage a teamwork approach

Preference for:
A recognized safety designation (NCSO/CRSP)
Experience in the oil and gas industry
Training in TapRooT or an equivalent method of root cause analysis

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
