In this role, reporting to the Safety Learning Supervisor, you will be responsible for the stewardship, delivery and continuous improvement of critical safety training to Suncor employees and contractors.
You will use your expertise to:
Provide critical safety training to employees and contractors applying relevant adult learning principles
Oversee and update training records in the Suncor Learning Management System (LMS)
Keep current on advances in learning delivery technology
Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with business areas and provide assistance regarding inquiries to Fort Hills safety training
Participate in course stewardship to ensure content is aligned with relevant Suncor standards and legislation.
Acquire and maintain required safety and instructor certifications.
Ensure material is to be delivered accurately and to Suncor standards

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Three years of experience instructing in an adult learning environment with some workplace training experience
A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
A good working knowledge of plant processes, including hazards, maintenance procedures, lockout out procedures, permits, etc.
A deep understanding of applicable Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations, act and code
Exceptional facilitation skills with a strong belief in workplace safety
The ability to work with diverse partners, manage conflict and foster an environment of continuous improvement and shared learning across Suncor
An adaptive work style, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, challenging demands and function in a dynamic and diverse work environment
Good decision making skills with integrity using strong organizational and communication skills that identifies, analyzes and generates alternatives to challenges and drive results.

A certificate in adult education

You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The shift schedule is a seven days on / seven days off rotation
