Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company, a global leader in the petroleum and petrochemicals industry, is seeking Project Safety Security Health and Environmental (SSH&E) Advisors for its Projects Group.

Project SSH&E Advisors provide support for the project by development, coordination, and/or consultation of systematic processes to implement SSH&E strategies. They work with personnel on monitoring safety and other SSH&E processes and establishing SSH&E expectations, and they verify that the project is meeting SSH&E goals and objectives by independent assessment and report to Project Management. Additionally, they serve as primary project team coordinators working with personnel on SSH&E matters related to design and construction, including design safety, health and work environment.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Develop project SSH&E plan and develop expectations for project safety/SSH&E management systems
  • Support and advise the projects in execution SSH&E
  • Support the project to achieve safety and health objectives in design and execution
  • Provide input to the safety/SSH&E training program
  • Steward the activities of contractors’ project safety/SSH&E groups
  • Provide assistance to, and participate in, risk assessments and studies
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on SSH&E initiatives and safety
  • Ensure stewardship/reporting of SSH&E performance indicators
  • Support project to identify, implement, and share best practices and lessons learned
  • Work with project on implementing a management of change process for SSH&E-related documents and  deliverables
  • Coach and facilitate Company’s project managers, site safety/SSHE specialists and steward the Contractors’ SSH&E organizations to achieve safety, security, health environmental objectives
  • Communicate and coordinate guidelines for Company’s SSH&E expectations, best practices, recognition, and incentive programs
  • Facilitate regular safety/SSH&E inspections, assessments, and audits at the various project sites
  • Organize and participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accidents, including development of remedial action plans

Required Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelors degree in an engineering or safety sciences discipline from an ABET accredited university (e.g., Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Safety) is required, P.E. and/or CSP, CIH designations a plus
  • Prefer long term/extensive experience (minimum of 15 years) in SSH&E-related positions
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks
  • Able to work in team setting with diverse cultures
  • Job requires domestic and/or international relocations to project locations.
