Provide technical support in the development of action plans for environment and safety for the site to ensure delivery of targeted Key Performance Indicators. Reports these KPIs to Zone Support.
Chairperson for the JHSC (Joint Health and Safety Committee) which is made up of both unionized and salaried employees. Co-ordinates the workings of this committee and runs monthly meetings and supervises some safety work done by hourly workers associated with this committee.
Chairperson for the Environment Committee which is made up of both full time and part time unionized employees and salaried employees. Co-ordinates the working of this committee and runs monthly meeting in order to achieve environmental Key Performance Indicators and to improve brewery site environmental compliance & performance
Liaison with regional claims manager to monitor the performance of the early and safe return to work program. Monitors environment and safety targets and accident/incident reporting for follow-up.
Facilitates and monitors compliance to management of change procedure. CAPEX review and sign-off for environment and safety elements in a project.
Leads Environment and Safety projects from the conceptual stage to business case development through to implementation.
Responsible for Zero Based Budgeting for brewery PPE (personal protective equipment) and uniforms.
Stays current with local legislation changes and ensures organization complies.
Implements standards, technical documents, policies and procedures.
Provides trouble shooting assistance to departments when required.
Education: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety field. Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygiene designations are preferred.
3-5 years experience in safety/environmental related experience.
Experience and knowledge in environment and safety legislation and policies.
Experience in environment and safety management practices and auditing for compliance.
Well developed computer skills. Sound analytical skills to develop/understand business cases. Financial skills to evaluate investment decisions.
Leadership skills, problem-solving skills, ability to lead change.
Ability to cross functionally move between departments and divisions. Willingness to work as needed and as required outside of normal business hours.
Coach salaried/hourly employee on their role and responsibilities, and safe practices.
Solid interpersonal skills and team orientation
