IOSH’s first annual construction conference – 6 talking points

IOSH’s first annual construction conference which covered the prevalence of musculoskeletal diseases in the construction industry, the significant costs of ill health to employers and the importance of mental health support for construction workers had been concluded with very interesting talking points

The conference was held on the 7th of November, 2018.  It was attended by more than 50 delegates from across the sector.

The major talking points at the conference where:

  • Lung health
  • Silicosis as an ancient disease
  • Construction work does not need to be dangerous
  • Many construction workers feel risk is inevitable
  • Mental health issues
  • Presenteeism costs employers more than absenteeism
