The individual in this position is responsible for environmental compliance with state and federal air, water, and waste environmental regulation requirements. Primary responsibility will be to actively support environmental compliance at the various Equistar Pipeline facilities, including Markham storage terminal, as well as participating in safety processes and safety rituals at the site. The incumbent will utilize their expertise to drive results with a focus on HSE incident prevention and continuous improvement. Primary office location is at Equistar Pipeline’s Clear Lake facility with travel required to other Equistar Pipeline facilities including operations in Markham, TX and Corpus Christi, TX to support assigned environmental programs.
Role and Responsibilities
Must be an active proponent of GoalZERO and Check Signals-Start to Finish.
Maintain ownership of assigned site environmental programs and provide support to maintain site compliance with permits and environmental regulatory requirements.
Coordinate waste shipments and maintain regulatory documentation for waste programs.
Maintain oversight of the Markham facility and various pipeline valve sites fugitive emission program which includes, but not limited to, oversight of the fugitive emission contractor, leak repairs, and leak detection database.
Complete and submit environmental reports to state and federal agencies.
Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. This includes, but is not limited to:
TCEQ and Texas Railroad Commission/DOT environmental regulations.
OSHA Occupational Safety Standards
Must serve in on-call rotation for HSE event and environmental release reporting.
Able to work independently and provide support in day to day operations and compliance for HSE activities, which includes recordkeeping and reporting obligations.
Support other members of the Pipeline HSE Organization as needed, including backup to the MBO HSE Specialist when needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years relevant environmental experience in a chemical or petrochemical facility.
Experience with and working knowledge of the air, water, and waste environmental regulations and regulatory processes.
Demonstrated experience representing a company to a regulatory agency.
Experience with Texas/Federal permitting and compliance reporting preferred.
Pipeline industry experience is a plus
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Building effective relationships within all functional areas of the facility and ensuring the practical application of HSE programs, processes and initiatives.
Must be able to positively influence LyondellBasell personnel and contractors.
Must be able to foster relationships with co-workers that are conducive to timely completion of stated objectives.
Must be self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
