About the Role: HSE Specialist – Food Industry

You will work closely with cross-functional teams during daily operations, audits, training sessions, and emergency planning to uphold international safety standards and align with HMTO’s commitment to excellence.

This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about continuous improvement in workplace safety and food hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

As part of our HSE Department, you will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities designed to support the organization’s safety culture and operational efficiency. Your core duties include:

1. Developing and Implementing HSE Policies

You will be responsible for creating, updating, and implementing HSE policies and guidelines in alignment with local Egyptian laws, international standards, and food industry regulations. This includes ensuring all procedures follow industry best practices and supporting the company’s mission to maintain safe working conditions for all employees.

2. Conducting Risk Assessments and Routine Plant Inspections

Identifying potential hazards is at the heart of effective HSE management. You will carry out detailed risk assessments across production lines, storage areas, and all facility zones. Routine inspections help ensure compliance and reinforce the culture of safety across teams.

3. Investigating Incidents and Near Misses

You will take the lead on incident investigations, analyzing root causes, documenting outcomes, and implementing preventive and corrective measures. Your efforts will contribute to reducing workplace accidents and ensuring a safer environment for everyone.

4. Organizing Safety Training and Awareness Sessions

A strong safety culture depends on well-informed employees. You will plan and conduct HSE training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs covering topics such as emergency handling, fire safety, PPE compliance, workplace hygiene, and food safety protocols.

5. Preparing Emergency Response and Contingency Plans

You will develop clear and effective emergency response procedures that address potential food industry hazards, fire scenarios, chemical incidents, and workplace accidents. You will also participate in emergency drills to ensure employees are prepared to act swiftly and appropriately.

6. Ensuring Hygiene and Sanitation Standards

Food safety is a top priority. You will monitor sanitation programs, inspect hygiene practices, and ensure compliance with food safety guidelines. This helps prevent contamination risks and maintains the quality consumers trust.

7. Reporting HSE Performance Metrics

Regular reporting is essential for continuous improvement. You will prepare structured and accurate HSE reports to update senior management on safety performance, audit results, incident trends, and recommended improvements.

Candidate Requirements

To ensure success and effectiveness in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

3. Professional Certifications

Although not mandatory, professional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent qualifications will significantly enhance your competitiveness and demonstrate your technical competence in occupational health and safety.

4. Technical and Analytical Skills

The ability to analyze data, identify risks, and recommend practical solutions is essential. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills are key qualities for this role.
