Job Field: Occupational Safety and Health
To work as directed by the Base Operations Manager and in line with the outlined duties and responsibilities of a discipline HSE Officer.
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepare documents and demonstrate with supporting documents that a safety
management system is in place and followed;
Coordinate and prepare necessary documentations for HSE audits/inspections by clients or third party;
Shall be responsible for the development, implementation, communication and
coordination of all HSE programs and activities of the company;
The HSE officer shall review and update institutional HSE policies and conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures on behalf of the company;
Carryout personnel HSE induction and Safety Awareness trainings;
Prepare all documents necessary and incidental to the approval and issuance of Project Work Permits;
Assist various management teams in the application of the HSE systems and processes
(i.e. Incident Hazard Reporting, JHA, JSA, BBS, etc.) through application review and improvement processes to drive HSE performance improvement;
Prepares monthly reports and make presentation to management to indicate day-to-day workplace inspection results and workers’ response to safety incidents, etc.
Identification of HSE training needs, preparation and implementation of annual HSE Training calendar, liaison and interaction with consultants, clients and external legal/regulatory agencies.
Must have a BEng in Mechanical Engineering
Must have a minimum of Level 3 HSE Certifications.
Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
The ideal candidate MUST have at least 5 years of experience as a safety officer in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector;
Working knowledge in HSE-MS, Environmental Discharges, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation Processes/Tools, Auditing Techniques, HEMP, etc.
Expertise in Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs) of project processes, developing and implementing safety philosophies and assessing Equipment Reliability (mechanical integrity) Systems.
Good Knowledge of relevant HSE policies, regulations, standards and specifications within the industry;
