Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently searching for an HSE Manager to support our operations in Western Australia. This role will be Perth based with travel anticipated to project sites across WA, and more widely, in support of our operations across our Asia Pacific region.
Working closely with the APAC HSSEA Vice-President, and drawing on the resources of the global Wood HSE community, your main focus will be to provide HSE leadership as part of the WA leadership team.
You will be working closely with the Operational Services Senior Vice-President for WA to deliver on both regional and global requirements.
You will be a motivated self-starter who is capable of leading the region in their quest for HSE excellence. You will be able to work autonomously and communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
Provide functional support to the Senior Vice President WA who is operationally responsible for the WA business;
Mentor and provide funcitonal leadership to funcitonal reports embedded in project teams.
Promote and implement standardisation of processes and procedures across WA and Asia Pacific in multi-cultural environments;
Responsible for ensuring emergency response, crisis management, security and business continuity arrangements are identified and implemented;
Ensuring risk management, legal compliance and Assurance (for HSE) activities are in place and appropriate based on regional risk profile across all the contracts;
Working closely with the security function and travel team to ensure necessary process and coverage is in place for business and rotational travellers.
Working closely with the individual contracts to help support safety culture improvements.
Building positive client relationships to support the contract HSE teams in the field;
Ensuring the HSE organisational structure delivers the required support of the business, and providing the appropriate recruitment and resourcing support;
Identification and implementation of a communications strategy to ensure engagement with employees and consistent messaging of leadership expectations about HSE.
Identification, communication and delivery of HSE strategy, at regional level, assist in development and roll out of an improvement plan to achieve company % decrease in lagging indicators and increase in leading indicators;
Supporting Integration of legacy AMEC Foster Wheeler / Wood Group teams and management systems.
Providing clear deliverables to the contracts and ensuring accountability for HSE is understood and implemented;
Providing an interface between corporate requirements and the site based contracts;
Ensuring that all Group corporate requirements are met and complied with in the region.
Skills / Qualifications
ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSE or related industry.
Degree in relevant technical, industry or HSEQ specific discipline.
NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma (desirable)
NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable).
Trained Internal Auditor (desirable)
RCA – Accident/ incident Investigator, e.g.
10 years in a technical role, or association with HSE role in another industry.
Senior Manager with project/contract experience in O&G, LNG or other industry.
Familiarization with O&G offshore and other relevant legislation and regulations.
Broad HSEQ experience in similar/other industry.
Good planning and organisational skills.
Effective/competent MS Office Suite User.
High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
Analytical, Problems Solving skills and Systematic thinking.
