Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a HSE Manager to strengthen our team in Iraq.  The successful candidate would be working on a 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation.


  • Provide HSE leadership for the duration of the project
  • Ensure compliance with local and national legislation in relation to HSE
  • Ensure all HSE contractual obligations, client and national regulatory body requirements are met
  • Drive the continuous improvement of HSE performance on the contract
  • Build and manage the capabilities of the contract HSE team
  • Provide leadership on HSE issues and performance
  • Provide accurate and pragmatic HSE advice (both strategic and tactical) to the contract management team and other contract personnel
  • Develop, maintain and review the contract HSSE plans and bridging/interface documents
  • Develop annual HSE objectives and associated KPI’s to deliver ‘goal zero’
  • Ensure that the contract HSE hazards have been identified and that appropriate and effective control measures have been implemented
  • Ensure all Wood HSE policies are effectively implemented
  • Report on HSE performance in accordance with Wood, client and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and anticipate trends in contract HSE performance and changes in work scope and use this information to inform HSE improvement planning
  • Develop and implement HSE improvement plans and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in contract HSE performance
  • Provision of day to day HSE advice and support

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • NEBOSH would be preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in similar HSE roles
  • Previous Middle East experience would be preferred
