We are seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator for our Toronto District office located in Oakville, Ontario. The HSE Coordinator would be assigned to projects across the GTA.
Assist the HSE Professional with inspections and incident investigations.
Manage documents (i.e. data entry, Safety Management Centre (SMC) entries, taking minutes, filing etc.).
Assist with the orientation of new employees.
Development of training materials.
Reviewing paperwork (i.e. Pre-Job Safety Instruction (PSI), tailgate meetings, safe work procedures, trend analyses).
Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to District.
Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to workforce.
Conduct and review PSI audits.
Assist with, and verify that, the information contained in the SMC is up-to-date and accurate.
Issue and circulate HSE literature to enhance and maintain awareness.
Assist supervisory staff with preparation of agenda and Project HSE Plan for project HSE committee meetings and weekly HSE meetings.
Participate and attend all required HSE committee meetings.
Assist with revisions of the Project HSE Plan as project conditions change.
Verify that corrective actions identified during inspections are implemented.
Other duties as required.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
1 to 4 years HSE experience in a construction environment preferred.
Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet compliance.
Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence.
Demonstrates planning, organizational, and time management skills to effectively establish the priority and scheduling of work tasks.
Effective communication and facilitation skills, or ability to learn presentation skills.
Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
