HSE Advisor (Tauranga) United States – Hawkins
Deadline: Friday 10th August
Job Ref: 9874
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Bay of Plenty
We have an opportunity for an HSE Advisor to join us in the sunny Bay of Plenty. Tauranga is experiencing a surge in business confidence and commercial property projects. Hawkins is right at the heart of the action. Right now we’re building the University of Waikato’s Tauranga CBD campus, the new Farmers building, Tauranga Crossing Stage 2 and Zespri’s new head office at Mount Maunganui.
Hawkins is big enough to tackle anything, yet small enough to be agile. Complex projects are our specialty, underpinned by our empowered approach to Health and Safety. Our expert teams throughout New Zealand deliver transformational projects including high-end fitouts, refurbishments and education, health and special purpose facilities.
The safety of people on Hawkins site is paramount. Everyone has the right to work in a safe and healthy environment and return home safely at the end of each day.
You can make a real difference in this role by helping us to continually improve health and safety practices within Hawkins and our industry.
The successful candidate will be part of a total team that strives to always exceed the expectations of our clients. We value success, teamwork, forward thinking and the passion to take on challenges. You’ll have the opportunity to build a successful career with a market leading organisation, working alongside proven industry experts in an environment that fosters individual professional development.
Our HSE Advisors are important members of the project management team, with specific responsibility for on-site safety management systems and supporting the sites’ HSE performance. In this role you will provide advice and assistance on health, safety and environmental management. You will help facilitate effective safety meetings, review work practices of staff and sub-contractors, work with project teams to identify and manage H&S risks as well as identifying suitable controls. You will proactively lead accident and incident prevention initiatives and foster an environment of behavioural-based change and continual improvement.
What we’re looking for
- You’ll need to have a recognised Health and Safety qualification
- Health and safety management experience in the vertical building construction industry
- Proven commitment and passion for developing a high performing safety culture
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to build and foster relationships
For confidential enquiries please contact Tracey Standring (HR Manager) on 09 980 2303. Applications for this role must be received by our Hawkins careers site by Friday 10th August.
