Hiring: HSE Engineer / HSE Officer (Solar)

Experience Required: 2–4 Years
Location: Hybrid (Site + Office)

About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated, highly motivated, and technically sound HSE Engineer / HSE Officer to support our expanding solar EPC operations. As the demand for renewable energy continues to grow, our organization is committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental stewardship across all solar project sites. This role is designed for an HSE professional who thrives in dynamic environments, takes ownership of safety processes, and is passionate about creating safe workplaces where people can perform their best work without compromise.

This hybrid role requires regular travel to project locations while also handling office-based reporting, documentation, planning, and coordination activities. You will be the central point of contact for ensuring adherence to HSE policies, implementing proactive risk control measures, supporting field teams, and bridging communication between site teams, clients, contractors, and project management.

Your contribution will be vital to preventing accidents, managing high-risk work activities, ensuring legal compliance, and creating a culture where safety is practiced consistently—not just during audits or inspections, but every single day.

Key Responsibilities

As an HSE Engineer / HSE Officer for our solar division, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks focused on maintaining a safe and compliant work environment across all project sites. Your major responsibilities include:

1. Implementing Project-Specific HSE Plans

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of project-specific HSE documentation, such as:

  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

  • Method statements

  • Emergency preparedness plans

  • Lifting plans and high-risk activity procedures

Your ability to tailor these plans to the unique needs of each solar project will ensure hazards are identified early and risks are effectively controlled.

2. Monitoring Daily Site Activities

Daily monitoring is essential in solar EPC sites where multiple high-risk activities occur simultaneously. You will oversee:

  • Working at heights (panel installation, module mounting structure)

  • Lifting operations using cranes, hydras, or mechanical equipment

  • Excavation works for cable routing, trenches, and civil foundations

  • Hot work activities including welding, cutting, and grinding

  • Electrical work such as cable laying, termination, and commissioning

Your presence ensures unsafe conditions are corrected immediately and workers are constantly aware of hazards in their environment.

3. Conducting Toolbox Talks and Safety Training

To strengthen the competency and awareness of the workforce, you will conduct:

  • Daily toolbox talks addressing task-specific risks

  • Safety inductions for new workers and subcontractors

  • Refresher training on PPE use, safe lifting, electrical safety, and fall prevention

  • Behaviour-based safety sessions to improve safety culture

Your communication skills will play a key role in ensuring workers understand expectations, hazards, and preventive measures.

4. Carrying Out Site Inspections

Frequent site inspections help maintain a high level of safety compliance. You will inspect:

  • PPE usage across the workforce

  • Scaffolding, ladders, and working platforms

  • Firefighting equipment readiness

  • First-aid arrangements and emergency response tools

  • Housekeeping, waste management, and environmental protection measures

Through systematic inspections, you will identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with both internal and statutory requirements.

5. Incident and Near-Miss Investigation

In the event of any incident, unsafe act, or near miss, you will:

  • Secure the area

  • Conduct detailed investigations using root cause analysis (RCA) techniques

  • Collect statements, photographs, and evidence

  • Identify immediate, underlying, and root causes

  • Propose corrective and preventive actions

Your reports will help improve systems and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

6. Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Documentation Compliance

A strong PTW system is essential for safe execution of solar projects. You will manage:

  • PTW approvals and verification

  • Daily and weekly checklists

  • HSE compliance records

  • Incident logs and observation records

  • Monthly and weekly safety reports

  • Audit and inspection documentation

Accurate documentation ensures transparency, enhances accountability, and facilitates smooth client and statutory audits.

7. Coordination With Client and PMC Teams

You will regularly engage with:

  • Client HSE representatives

  • Project Management Consultant (PMC)

  • Subcontractor supervisory teams

  • Construction, electrical, and commissioning teams

This coordination ensures that expectations are aligned, compliance gaps are addressed, and safety standards are consistently maintained across all project phases.

8. Ensuring Contractor Compliance

Since contractors form a large part of solar EPC execution, you will:

  • Review contractor safety plans

  • Ensure workforce competency and certification

  • Validate equipment and machinery fitness

  • Monitor working conditions and manpower safety behaviour

Your leadership ensures that all contractors adhere to the project’s strict HSE policies.
