Responsible for supporting, administering and monitoring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs within the scope of Company requirements and local, state, and federal regulations. Promotes and operates in a heightened safety environment. Identify HSE hazards and establish controls to mitigate risks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5% of the incumbent’s time. Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.
Support the maintenance of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure the facility is in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standard as directed.
-Support the sustainment of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems to assess and control Health, Safety and Environmental Risks
-Participate in internal audits and inspections and recommend solutions for corrective action.
-Perform and revise HSE Risk Assessments in keeping with facility guidelines and internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, BS EN ISO 12100
– Recognize workplace safety and environmental hazards and risks associated with processes, services and products.
– Understand how the management of HSE risks affects overall HSE Management within the sphere of influence.
– Support plant’s management of environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements
– Maintain regulatory programs
– Performing site inspections evaluate plant’s compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements.
– Perform tasks that support the plant’s environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements
-Identify, assist in developing, and track training requirements for HSE training
Contractor HSE Management
-Support contractor HSE program to manage HSE risks associated with contractor activities onsite
-Support chemical management activities including all requirements related to chemical management including; chemical approvals, GHS compliant labeling, employee training, and proper disposition
Emergency Preparedness and Response
-Understand all potential emergency situations within sphere of influence (fire, chemical spills, medical, workplace violence, natural disasters).
-Understand Emergency Response plans that address potential emergency situations. Implement training as necessary to responsible persons
Support and/or lead investigations on environmental and safety incidents including near misses, injuries, releases, and non-compliance. Ensure that root causes are identified, and effective corrective actions are implemented in a timely fashion.
– Support the facility safety team
– Service as a conduit of communication between employees and management staff
– Assist in employee engagement and recognition programs related to HSE
Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities

0-3 years of health, safety and environment experience in the manufacturing industry required
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management preferred
Fundamental knowledge of safety codes, OSHA 1910 and other regulatory agencies. Programs for which the incumbent will have responsibility to support could include but are not limited to:
Confined Space Entry
Control of Hazardous Energy: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Machinery and Machine Guarding
Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV)
Personal Protective Equipment
Fundamental knowledge of environmental codes, EPA 40CFR and other regulatory agencies. Programs for which the incumbent will have responsibility to support could include but are not limited to:
Air Quality & Emissions
Solid & Hazardous Waste
Waste Water / Storm Water
Above & Under Ground Storage Tank Management
Ability to deliver HSE training.
Ability to conduct incident investigation, including Root Cause Analysis such as Five Why Analysis. Experience preferred.
Training in Ergonomics, Machine Guarding and as a First Aid Responder preferred.
Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to pounds and may occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ear plugs may be required in some areas of a plant. Employees are required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses throughout the plant.
