Key Responsibilities

The scope includes supporting the shipping & handling group as part of the USEPA Chemical Speciation Network proposal/contract. Personnel should be meticulous, detail oriented and have the ability to keep track of many parts, samples and components for the 150+ station network. The general scope involves handling various logistics for the thousands of specific samples that need to be shipped, tracked and received. The general tasks will include preparing the samples in sampling modules, securely packaging those samples in pre-determined shipping containers, preparing the shipping container for secure shipment via overnight carrier, ensuring samples are shipped on a strict 3 day or 6 day cycle, tracking the specific samples via site specific identification labels, and providing this entire set of services in reverse when the samples are received back into the Wood shipping & handling group. Attention to detail is of the utmost importance so as not to get samples from different sites confused with other sites.

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0 to 3 years work experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds without help from another employee
  • General knowledge of shipping, handling, & receiving processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish contract requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for making labels and shipping samples via overnight carrier
  • Ability to cross-train and multi-task the work within the group and switch from one task to another readily
