Reporting to the Director, Corporate Health, Safety & Environment, the Manager, Corporate Health & Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to ensure a safe and healthy workplace at the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM). The incumbent contributes to the overall function of the organization by ensuring corporate health and safety liability is appropriately managed and health, safety and environmental programs are administered in an efficient and cost effective manner. The role requires the continuous review of operations and exercise of sound health, safety and environmental management planning and decision-making necessary to maintain an exceptionally high standard in Health, Safety, Environmental management and performance. The manager must work within deadlines and shifting priorities and is expected to lead by example and mentor others, including three or more direct reports.
Duration: 18 months.
Bilingual (English and French) is mandatory.
University degree in related area (Occupational Health, Safety or Environment).
Minimum of 7 years of related business experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience.
Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other recognized designation preferred.
Experience in program development, program implementation and training delivery.
Comprehensive understanding of the Canada Labour Code, Part II, regulations, standards and best practices.
Experience reporting and communicating technical information to workers, management and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages, develops, delivers and maintains health and safety policies, procedures, guidelines and directives under the jurisdiction of Corporate Health, Safety and Environment.
Leads project teams for implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, guidelines and directives. Audits performance and compliance with these documents.
Manages the delivery of professional health and safety services such job hazard analyses, industrial hygiene services, indoor air quality evaluations, ergonomic assessments, inspection and auditing, and other expert services as required. Provides technical guidance to the Corporate Health and Safety team.
Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure that their health and safety needs are met through Corporate Health and Safety programs and professional services. Provides support to both the Work Place and Policy Health and Safety Committees. Communicates effectively, clearly and regularly with employees.
Provides assistance and support to the Director in the preparation of presentations, accident trending and development and delivery of targeted health and safety prevention strategies, development and delivery of the Corporate Health and Safety training program, collaborates during annual planning activities.
Provides and coordinates health and safety training where required.
