Basic Function: This position is responsible for developing and implementing, plans, policies and behaviors to create a sustainable health, safety and environmental culture within the workplace. In addition, the position has the responsibility to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

Typical duties/responsibilities for HSE may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop, implement and coordinate all HSE policies and procedures including behavior based safety

Assure company compliance with all relevant Local, State, and Federal Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protections Agency (EPA) rules and regulations

Interacts with and provides visible leadership to all employees, particularly those on the plant floor to drive safety awareness, engagement and improvement

Perform audits throughout facility to detect existing or potential incident, health, or environmental hazards and determine corrective /preventative measures

Lead the investigation of incidents/injuries and coordinate review meetings

Prepare and submit all required regulatory/corporate safety and environmental documentation

Educate and motivate all levels of the organization to put safety first and drive the facility toward a zero-incident safety culture

Complexity of Tasks: Requires thorough knowledge of HSE practices and related laws and regulations to effectively manage a group and provide support to clients. Requires ability to accurately assess and resolve complex human resource issues, coordinate activities, interface with, and influence various levels of staff. Erroneous recommendations and decisions may adversely impact the organization’s effectiveness and reputation, impact morale and result in employee complaints and legal actions.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree

Five (5) years demonstrated HSE experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
    Proven ability to implement innovative safety programs and sustain improved results
  • Ability to coach and influence all levels of the organization as well as contract partners
  • Flexible to work across 3 shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ability to prioritize work, effectively handle multiple tasks, and possess sound reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Safety and environmental certifications a plus
    Strong computer skills.
