Job Overview

We are currently recruiting an experienced and highly competent Senior QHSE Officer to support a major offshore wind farm project in UK waters, located off the coast of Scotland. This role is critical to ensuring the highest standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) performance throughout all offshore and marine operations.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in maintaining compliance with UK offshore regulations, renewable energy safety standards, and industry best practices, while actively supporting safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible project execution.

This position operates on a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation and is suitable for professionals with proven offshore wind, marine, or oil and gas experience who are fully certified and ready to mobilize for a February 2026 start.

Project Background

The project forms part of the UK’s expanding offshore renewable energy portfolio and involves complex marine and offshore construction activities, including vessel operations, lifting activities, turbine installation support, and associated logistics.

Given the offshore environment and regulatory requirements, the project demands a robust QHSE management presence to proactively manage risks, ensure workforce well-being, protect the marine environment, and maintain quality assurance across all phases of work.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior QHSE Officer, you will be responsible for both strategic and operational QHSE oversight offshore. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Health and Safety Management

  • Actively promote a strong safety culture across offshore worksites, vessels, and marine operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with UK offshore safety legislation, HSE guidance, and project-specific safety requirements.

  • Monitor and enforce safe systems of work, including Permit to Work (PTW), Toolbox Talks, Task Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and site walkabouts to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.

  • Lead or support incident, near-miss, and unsafe act investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.

  • Provide safety leadership and guidance to supervisors, contractors, and offshore crews.

Quality Management

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and quality control procedures in line with project standards.

  • Verify that offshore activities meet approved specifications, drawings, and procedures.

  • Participate in audits and inspections related to quality compliance.

  • Assist in managing non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, marine protection requirements, and project environmental management plans.

  • Monitor offshore activities to prevent pollution, spills, and environmental harm.

  • Promote environmental awareness among offshore personnel.

  • Support reporting and investigation of environmental incidents or near-misses.

Offshore Operations Support

  • Provide direct QHSE support during marine and offshore operations, including vessel activities and wind farm works.

  • Liaise with project management, marine coordinators, and vessel crews to align QHSE expectations.

  • Review and approve QHSE documentation relevant to offshore tasks.

  • Participate in pre-job planning meetings and operational briefings.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare and submit accurate QHSE reports, observations, and statistics.

  • Maintain QHSE records in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.

  • Track corrective and preventive actions to closure.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

Mandatory Certifications (All Required)

  • Full GWO Certifications, including but not limited to:

    • GWO Working at Height

    • GWO Sea Survival

    • GWO Manual Handling

    • GWO Fire Awareness

    • GWO First Aid

  • Valid passport with sufficient validity for offshore travel.

  • Offshore medical certification appropriate for UK waters (e.g., OGUK or equivalent).

Professional Qualifications

  • Recognized QHSE qualification, such as:

    • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)

    • NEBOSH International General Certificate

    • NVQ / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

    • Equivalent HSE or QHSE certification

  • ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 9001 knowledge or auditor training is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a QHSE Officer or Senior QHSE Officer in offshore or marine environments.

  • Previous experience on offshore wind farm projects is highly desirable.

  • Background in offshore construction, marine operations, oil & gas, or renewable energy projects.

  • Strong understanding of UK offshore HSE regulations, marine safety rules, and industry best practices.

  • Experience working within 12NM operational zones is an advantage.
