Are you an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional looking to take your career to the next level in a dynamic and challenging manufacturing environment? We are seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to join our continuous manufacturing factory in Abu Dhabi. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of our operations while fostering a strong culture of safety and sustainability throughout the organization.
As an HSE Officer, you will be at the forefront of our safety initiatives, working closely with all departments to identify potential hazards, mitigate risks, and ensure that our factory operates in accordance with the highest health, safety, and environmental standards. If you are passionate about creating a safe workplace and have a proactive approach to HSE management, this is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Compliance Assurance: You will ensure strict compliance with local and international HSE regulations applicable to our manufacturing operations. This includes UAE-specific legislation, such as OSHAD and ADOSH standards, as well as international standards like ISO 45001 for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management. Your role will include monitoring regulatory updates and ensuring that all factory practices remain fully compliant.
2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. You will conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analyses to proactively identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. This includes assessing operational processes, machinery, and chemical handling procedures, ensuring all risks are properly documented and addressed.
3. Training and Education: Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors. This includes induction programs for new hires, refresher courses, and specialized training tailored to high-risk areas. You will work to raise awareness of safety protocols, encourage safe work practices, and ensure that all personnel understand their responsibilities in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
4. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes. You will provide detailed recommendations for corrective and preventive actions, helping the organization learn from incidents and continuously improve safety performance. Timely and accurate reporting of incidents to regulatory authorities and management is a critical component of this responsibility.
5. Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop, maintain, and implement emergency response plans to handle workplace incidents effectively. You will conduct emergency drills and simulations, coordinate emergency response teams, and ensure readiness for potential crises, including fires, chemical spills, or medical emergencies. Your role ensures the safety of employees and compliance with emergency preparedness regulations.
6. Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the factory, identifying any non-compliance or unsafe conditions. You will work closely with department heads to ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Continuous monitoring of safety performance metrics, near-miss reports, and audit findings will help identify trends and areas for improvement.
7. Environmental Management: Monitor and manage the environmental impact of factory operations. This includes tracking waste management, emissions, energy usage, and resource conservation initiatives. You will implement strategies to minimize environmental risks, ensuring that our operations are sustainable and in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
8. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare, maintain, and submit HSE reports to regulatory authorities as required. You will also maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, audits, and training activities, ensuring that all documentation supports compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
9. Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Actively identify opportunities to enhance HSE performance within the factory. This includes recommending new policies, procedures, or technologies that improve workplace safety, employee engagement, and environmental sustainability. Your proactive approach will help the organization stay ahead in HSE best practices.
