  1. Get a mentor: Mentorship according to Wikipedia is a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. The mentor may be older or younger than the person being mentored, but they must have a certain area of expertise. However, if you want to grow in the profession you need a mentor that will guide you. The area of guide include professional career path you can follow, how to go about sourcing for job, guide on how to carry out his job responsibilities, recommendations, etc. If you must grow in the profession, you need a MENTOR!!!
  2. Join HSE profession groups: To grow you need to join HSE professionals groups as much as are related to your area of interest. There, you will have the privilege to learn, interact and network with senior colleagues. These groups can be on different social platform like Whatsapp, Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram, Slack, etc.
  3. Network: Networking can not be over emphasized. As you join a professional network don’t just be a silent learner. Make inputs, thumbs up, likes, comments on nice posts is a okay. From there you can establish direct relationship with some senior professionals. You need to grow, both in learning and recommendation. If you are on Linkedin which is one of the most invaluable professional social platform, invite professionals to join your network. They may not be only HSE professionals, you can equally invite Human resource specialists and other influencers. These will boost your visibility on the platform.
