Taking place in Sydney from October 23 to 24, 2024, the Workplace Health & Safety Show will fall during National Safe Work Month.
The Show, Australia’s premier gathering place for experts in workplace health and safety, strives to promote innovation, networking, and education in the field of workplace safety.
The event is being held at a crucial moment, according to the organizers, since Safe Work Australia has reported 200 workplace fatalities in 2023 and 139,000 workers’ compensation claims for serious illnesses or injuries between 2022 and 2023.
Prioritizing workplace safety is crucial, according to Nathan Lee, director of High-Risk Work and Industries Policy at Safe Work Australia: “We should see workplace deaths in Australia as completely unacceptable.” Nobody should get up in the morning to go to work and then fail to return home safely to their family at night.
Lee further emphasized that, regardless of the size of the organization, work health and safety (WHS) ought to be a fundamental component of business operations.
This message is in line with the objective of October’s National Safe Work Month, which aims to strengthen safety cultures in Australian businesses.
The Show, timed to align with this nationwide endeavor, aims to assist WHS practitioners by providing them with access to materials that are at the forefront of their business.
According to Stephen Blackie, Portfolio Manager of the Workplace Health & Safety Show, “it’s an event designed for the safety community, providing them with the tools and support they need to make Australian workplaces safer and healthier.”
In addition, the Champions of Safety Awards, a program to recognize people who go above and beyond to safeguard the health and safety of employees, will be debuted during the show this year.
According to Blackie, “We acknowledge that anybody can be a champion for safety—this fits in perfectly with this year’s National Safe Work Month theme: Safety is everyone’s business.” At the occasion, the award winners will be revealed.
The Show’s substantial educational program, which offers over 40 hours of information provided by 75 subject-matter experts, is another noteworthy feature.
Through seminars, workshops, and summits, attendees can increase their understanding of safety procedures and earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.
These seminars will address a variety of subjects, including worker welfare, injury prevention, and safety technologies.
Additionally, Nathan Lee will give a presentation on simplifying the interpretation and application of WHS regulations, especially for smaller enterprises.
More than 160 exhibitors displaying more than 200 brands and state-of-the-art safety technologies will be present at the expo.
“This all-inclusive, live directory of service providers is unavailable anywhere else,” Blackie emphasized, highlighting the event’s capacity to blend learning with practical application of the newest safety innovations.
