WHY ORGANIZATIONS SHOULD INITIATE NO SMOKING REGULATION
Smoking in the workplace is like a normal thing on most of our work-sites, especially construction sites. Though some organizations has substance abuse policy, this policy do not greatly manage the menace of cigarette smoking in the work-site; the policy only put control on substances that should not be consumed by the workers during work session.
Considering the health implication of cigarette smoking, i believe it is high time we put a concrete measures to control cigarette smoking especially for non-smokers.
Some of the health implications associated with smoking are: Death, cardiovascular disorders, respiratory disorders, cancers, etc.
It has been ascertained that secondary smokers are exposed to as much health risk as the primary smokers.
Some years back, i visited a section of an organization. On getting to a particular office, i perceived that the whole atmosphere was polluted with cigarette smoke. When i got inside the office, i noticed that the expatriate was the one responsible for that menace. I felt so uncomfortable. The first thing i considered was the lady who acted as his secretary. She was there taking in all the smoke which accumulated in the air.
This is what is happening; some people smoke inside their vehicle fully sealed and their driving will be breathing the smoke. Some just smoke in the public where other workers are working.
All these can be controlled if a NO SMOKING REGULATION is initiated.
THE NO SMOKING REGULATION
This regulation will:
ban smoking in public where other people will be passive smokers, and it will also provide smoking points; if you want to smoke, you do it there.
By so doing, the menace of incessant spreading of hazardous smoke will be curtailed adequately.
