West Africa Division of IOSH – The move will mean the IOSH West Africa Branch will be able to continue developing important strategic alliances and growing membership in the region, all with a view to protecting people at work.
Temitope Mudele, Chair of the Branch, said: “We are delighted to have been formally granted Branch status by IOSH. It’s a hugely significant development in occupational safety and health in our region, one which will help with our growth and partnership working.”
Originally set up in 2020 as an emerging network, the Division has established itself throughout the region. It has held two successful conferences, one virtually in 2021 and an in-person event earlier this year in Accra, Ghana.
It currently has 245 members and confidence is high this can increase in the coming years.
Temitope added: “While we have made huge strides in recent years, we recognise there is a significant amount of work to be done to make sure people are safe and healthy at work.
“This cannot be done in isolation, so we look forward to continuing to work closely with our partner organisations in West Africa, and to forge new links. This, backed by the hard work and dedication of our members on the ground, can start to make a real difference to people’s lives. And that is why we’re here.”
Nicole Rinaldi, Director of Professional Services at IOSH, said: “This is a very exciting development. Granting Branch status signifies the high esteem in which our network of members in West Africa is held and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow.
“This development aligns to our strategic objective to connect diverse professionals around the world. All of this links with our overall vision of a safe and healthy world of work.”
