Position: Site Junior Health and Safety Advisor
Experience: 0-3 years
Duration: 18 months
Hatch is currently looking for a junior Health & Safety Advisor to assist with health and safety activities at our Kemano project. The Safety Advisor will receive direction from Hatch Safety Manager, to assist all project H&S activities.
The candidate must be adaptable, self-motivated, have the ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment, and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both colleagues and external clients through excellent verbal and written communication.
Assist in promoting an active health and safety culture;
Assist in implementing our health and safety management systems and contribute to its continuous enhancement;
Provide administrative support as required;
Prepare and facilitate health and safety training;
Prepare reports on health and safety;
Assist with the administration and design of safety awareness programs;
Promote effective communication and dissemination of relevant health and safety information;
Interface with field staff and support project site work;
Assist with developing and participating in the inspection and audits of the site;
Assist with the development of project safety plans and programs;
Assist with and be able to perform job safety analysis, analyze operations, identify risks and implement preventative measures;
Support senior staff with the coordination of incident investigations; document and supervise preventative and corrective action.
Keep abreast of developments in health and safety legislation and practice;
Degree or certificate in occupational safety and health or a similar discipline
Understanding of worker safety standards and their applications, and a willingness to learn
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc)
Must be able to work in a team environment
Creative problem solving ability;
Outward facing with good interpersonal skills;
Self-motivated with good organizational capability;
Willing and able to travel.
