Location: Stourbridge, Birmingham
Reel currently employs approximately 2000 people internationally and has a presence in Europe, the Americas and Asia. The company specialises in the design, manufacture, delivery and maintenance of complex lifting and handling systems for airport infrastructure, nuclear, aeronautics, offshore and heavy industries. We are the dedicated and preferred supplier to several blue-chip international based companies. Our facilities are strategically based and pivotal for the production capacity and delivery of their respective industrial processes.
Currently we have two locations in UK : Stourbridge and Broughton.
To support our maintenance activity, and enforce our quality and safety process, we are looking for :
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Delegate M/W
You’ll report directly to the local Director of REEL UK and your activity will support the maintenance development, the customer confidence and to answer legal and group commitments.
Your main duties and responsibilities:
carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced;
outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards;
carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to(nationwide customers),
ensure working practices are safe and comply with present legislation;
prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy, in conjunction with Group Safety Manager,
lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks;
keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements;
record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers and for Group Safety Manager,
keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry;
produce management reports, memorandums and bulletins;
ensure equipment is installed safely;
manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos;
advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
Implement and sustain the Quality plan, ensure the reach of the ISO 9001 and any other Quality accreditation needed for the business.
The position will require some business trips in UK and abroad.
You will assume your job for both sites in the UK ( Stourbridge and Broughton), and you will liaise with the REEL group QHSE Managers, based in France.
You may have contact with the client, so we are expecting you are able to communicate your findings with your rationale and options to all partners (customers, suppliers, and employees)
Ideally you should be of graduate caliber or with existing experience in the SHEQ arena and be qualified to the below standards:
IOSH or one of the accredited courses that meet their requirements,
NCQR Level 6 in Applied Health and Safety,
NEBOSH or British Safety Council Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety,
City & Guilds Level 5 (NVQ)
You need to be an outgoing person, and be confident in explaining and convincing your colleagues and customers of your rationale for any decision or strategic direction that you make.
You should also have a good working knowledge of all MS office applications and you are able to manage data in integrated systems.
