Senior Quality Assurance Construction Inspector

Overview / Responsibilities
Wood’s Florida team is growing and we have opportunities for a Senior Quality Assurance Construction Inspector to perform independent assurance (IA) and evaluations for qualifications (concrete field and concrete strength) of FDOT technicians assigned at plants or project sites. The Senior QA Inspector will report to our Gainesville office in support of our statewide materials contract. The initial contract length is 400 days with the opportunity for additional work.
Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision, perform field inspections, observations of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, project documents and specifications in accordance with established procedures

Read and interpret construction documents including, but not limited to, drawings, specifications, standards, codes and shopping drawings

Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports and/or testing records daily in accordance with established quality procedures

Perform analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Supervisor

Document, track and communicate of construction non-conformance

Under general supervision and direction, interact with clients and other site personnel provide input on appropriate resolution of issues and findings

Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and/or Office Managers
Skills / Qualifications
Required
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required
-
Minimum 2 years of construction inspection experience in precast/prestressed operations or the equivalent in training and related experience

CTQP Concrete Field Technician – Level I certification
-
Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Quality Control Personnel Certification – Level II
-
Valid Driver’s License required
-
Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times

Ability to prepare reports and documentation

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required

Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy
Preferred
-
Associate degree in civil engineering technology or construction engineering technology
-
Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Physical Demands

Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work

Ability to lift to 30 pounds

Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles

Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
