Reason why occupational Health and safety professionals should be regulated

Paul Andre, CRSP, the chair of the Board of Governors of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and acting president and CEO of Workplace Safety North is of the believe that, due to lack of regulation of OHS professionals in Canada, many people claim to be OHS professionals without any formal education or professional training; this poses a public safety danger to Canadian workers.

A similar situation is playing out in our different establishments, where a non-professional is saddled with a responsibility of protecting life.

A colleague once told me that his immediate boss do not posses any occupational Health and safety certification which is very unfortunate.

This is where the issue of regulating occupational health and safety professional comes in.
