Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

 

Overview of Position:

 

Provide occupational hygiene technical expertise to Chevron’s international and domestic operations; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support health risk assessments, facility design, or strategic research and technology development initiatives to integrate health aspects into existing and future operations and standards; provide support for Chevron emergency preparedness and response efforts; utilize data analysis tools to support continual improvement in health and safety risk management.

This position is within the Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) Technology Department of ETC, which supports all Chevron businesses, both by providing technical services to Chevron business units, and by directing strategic research and technology development at organizations outside of Chevron. The department is staffed by a group of approximately 100 professionals, delivering technical expertise and practical, cost effective solutions in the areas of Environmental Technology, and Health and Workforce Safety.

 

Position Details:

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Technical Consulting:
    • Provide technical consulting on occupational hygiene related issues to operations, development and remediation projects worldwide.
    • Coordinate with business units and ETC staff to support efficient and effective implementation technical aspects of Chevron’s occupational hygiene management system and support health integration with other related Chevron management system processes and standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Project management and/or participation for strategic research and technology development initiatives
  • Leadership and Teamwork:
    • Lead and work as part of a team (including colleagues, Business Unit personnel, external researchers, and contractors), work collaboratively with peers, coach and mentor others on occupational hygiene technical issues and strategies to integrate occupational hygiene solutions. 

      Core competence required

  • Demonstrated experience with a broad range of occupational hygiene hazards, evaluation and mitigation strategies
  • Experience with occupational hygiene data management and analysis tools and application of learning to process improvement and risk prioritization strategies
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and project management skills including managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work independently to solve complex problems. 

    Desired

  • Oil and gas exploration and production and/or refining, or mining experience 

    Education/Experience Requirements:

     

    MINIMUM: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or health science-related discipline required, master’s degree or PhD in health sciences preferred.

    Health-related board certification (CIH or equivalent, CHP, DABT) preferred.

     

    OTHER: LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, PUBLICATIONS

  • Publications in peer reviewed literature and presentations at scientific meetings are considered evidence of educational achievement and professional development, and are a plus. 

    Other Considerations:

    Travel could be required on a regular basis (up to 20-30%), with occasional international trips to major centers of operations around the globe.
