Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) holds another edition of its Safety Awareness Campaign, with a focus on Lagos Island

During the awareness campaign, The Lagos State Safety Commission engaged traders, commuters and residents at Tafawa Balewa Square, CMS, Tinubu Square, Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Oluwole Street, Tom-Jones Street during the sensitisation programme.

The campaign was led by the Director General of the Commission, Lanre Mojola who harped on the need to always be alert on practices that could compromise safety in homes and market places.

He listed measures that could be taken to prevent incidents that may lead to loss of lives and properties, while also praising the residents for turning out for the sensitisation.

In attendance was The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed, who also lent his voice to the theme of the programme, urging residents to report unsafe activities to the authorities.

The LSSC team halted the campaign at a construction site where various rules on construction safety were observed to have been violated. To prevent untoward event, the building was sealed immediately, while the Commission promised to investigate the activities on the site. He, however, warned that any worker found working on a building sealed off by the agency would be prosecuted.

The DG however, appealed to the public, especially developers, to support the agency in achieving the policy thrust of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu government.

Other present at the campaign were: Commissioner for Home Affairs, Price Anofiu Elegushi, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business District, Hon. Sola Giwa, and award-winning hip-hop artiste, Patoranking top government officials and several others.
