We have a vacancy for an HSE Officer to join the ESH Team at the Morpeth Site.

The main role accountabilities include:

  • Research and collection of technical information relating to the hazardous properties of chemical substances and pharmaceutical products handled on site.
  • Management of hazard summary information (COSHH) sheets suitable for use in the workplace by all departments for COSHH assessment.
  • Management of the site MSDS library as part of the vendor approval process
  • Technical evaluation of substances to determine occupational exposure limits, symptoms of exposure and health issues. Use of Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) modeling for clinical trial compound assessment.
  • CLP Classification and preparation of Labelling and Safety Data Sheets for substances placed in the supply chain.
  • Application of IUCLID software for management of Piramal REACH dossiers and advice to Supply Chain as to the REACH registrations of supplied materials and the application of Strictly Controlled Conditions or Chemical Safety Reports.
  • New product introduction screening and substance evaluation as part of Hazard study 1
  • Monitoring the site inventory status in relation to COMAH thresholds
  • Regulatory reporting for substances related to chemical weapons precursors under the Chemical Weapons Convention
  • Internal auditing of compliance with the UK and EU environmental and waste management regulation
  • Technical evaluation of waste and effluent against the disposal hierarchy
  • Regulatory auditing of waste disposal facilities in accordance with Duty of Care obligations
  • Management of Controlled Drug substance disposal reporting to the Home Office
  • Periodic review of environmental impact assessment data as required by the Environment.

Applicants should be experienced in the pharmaceutical industry and the application of the regulatory compliance framework associated with it. Ideally, candidates should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a science discipline with some general experience in safety and environmental management systems.   A NEBOSH certificate is desirable.Applicants should be experienced in the pharmaceutical industry and the application of the regulatory compliance framework associated with it. A good level of ability with standard software packages such as MS Excel, Word & Powerpoint is required as well as structured information management.
