Provide professional support to the Senior Team and relevant functions to ensure a common and consistent approach to all Health and Safety matters aligned with company and parent company policy.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Audit on a routine basis to verify compliance and report findings to management
  • Responsible for the review, development, implementation and monitoring of the site HSE management system to ensure the safety of staff, visitors and contractors, in line with current Health and Safety and associated legislation.
  • Ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted by offering expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture
  • Communicate results of audits and overall Health and Safety performance to management as necessary
  • Develop / maintain a good working relationship with Soreen employees
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managersKeep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry
  • Provide professional health and safety technical support and advice to the business; developing and delivering the strategic business objectives to drive success through learning and development, leadership and Health and Safety strategies
  • Maintaining and developing the Health and Safety systems and processes ensuring the business remains compliant
  • Drive continual improvement to maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety performance at all times, recommending effective and practical solutions to implement within the business
  • Work closely with the site management team and staff to improve engagement levels (i.e hazard spots) by developing and implementing behavioural safety awareness activities to support our vision of keeping our people safe
  • Leading and implementing best practice procedures and training activities for all level of employees

Skills & Experience

  • Experienced gained in a similar role from within a similar company (ideally food manufacturing)
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline with professional qualifications (IOSH/NEBOSH)
  • A Health & Safety subject matter expert, you will have a proven background in creating, developing and delivering strategies
  • Proven ability to support and drive organisational change and employee engagement
  • Up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience in planning and implementing projects, report writing, giving presentations and/or facilitating workshops
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills
  • Highly numerate & literate, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint
