About the role
Reporting to the Head of HSE Business Partnering for WA Iron Ore, your key accountabilities will include:
Supports the development and implementation of HSE initiatives defined by the South Flank Project Director and Mau HSE Function.
Support and coach the Integrated Project Team in the delivery of quality event investigations, BHP Field Leadership Program, risk assessment processes and work management requirements.
Builds Integrated Project Team HSE capability through targeted coaching, mentoring and the provision of technical advice and guidance.
Leads and enables a team of HSE professionals in the delivery of HSE support and service for the Project.
Interface with regulatory, industry and community bodies across HSE dimensions providing input relevant to Project execution.
Ensure that HSE improvement initiatives, identified by the MAu HSE A&I sub-function, for activities that the HSE Function are accountable for, are implemented.
Define and deploy HSE systems, processes, capability and tools to support the delivery of the Project Execution Strategy and Project Execution Plan.
Ensure conformance with the BHP’s Charter, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
Reviews suitability of Contractor’s HSE systems, processes and capability.
To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor Degree in Health Science, Environmental Science, Health and Safety.
Management, Risk Management, Engineering or a related field and possess 10+ years post qualification experience, ideally in mining construction.
You will have solid working knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, and proven experience of guiding, developing and influencing practice in the HSE area.
A post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject is highly desirable but not essential.
This role requires detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE related risks and demonstrated experience in executing technical HSE related work, including involvement in major change initiatives. As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience and a background in large capital projects, including responsibility for budgets and establishing work plans. You are an independent thinker and decision maker who can work in ambiguous and complex environments. Your sound investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills will be critical in this role.
