Provides safety / health support to the site leadership team and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). In some cases, responsibilities may extend to other Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) issues, status, and metrics. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure a safe work environment for all project employees, sub-contractors, and visitors.
Provide HSE construction support and direction to all site personnel.
Participate and assist in the investigation of incidents to determine the cause.
Control all H&S Managements systems, ensuring we adhere to OHSAS 18001.
Establish what is required to eliminate any possible reoccurrence an incident in the future.
Develop and update safety standards, instructions, codes, and formalize them into company documented practices as required.
Review designs for new projects and upgrade of existing facilities for compliance with company and industry safety standards.
Respond to emergency situations and incidents either during or after regular working hours, to provide technical assistance and advice.
Participate in developing and promoting on- or off-job safety educational programs to address safety issues or concerns.
Assigned tasks may include preparation of articles for publication, development of promotional materials, and delivery of presentations.
Ensure safety obligations with clients are carried out as per the terms of the clients and communicated to Site Supervision.
Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed.
Required to be in the field up to 50% of the time or per Grid Integration Manager or clients requirements.
Ensure that the following material is available on site, HSE Manual, the applicable OH&S legislation and regulations, site safety inspection forms, observation forms, toolbox sign in sheer and equipment inspections.
Ensure that safety meetings are held on a regular basis. These will be daily or depending on the expectations.
Ensure that inspections are performed per inspection schedule.
Communicate any significant issues or concerns.
Communicate and assist workers to ensure that all safety expectations are met.
Manage client expectations and negotiate successful and positive results when issues arise.
Facilitate ongoing communications with the client and ensure responsiveness to issues/requests.
Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with the company established policies and procedures; as well as those outlined by clients.
Indirectly supervise the work and safety practices of various craftsmen in an industrial setting.
Determine training needs of craft personnel and assist them in obtaining that training.
Follow oral and written directions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
A minimum 5 years of experience in construction.
A minimum of an associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field. (Bachelor’s Preferred)
An understanding of Construction Safety Standards, Excavations, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, Incident Investigation
CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and/or OSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
Proficient in ISNetworld, PICS, DISA
OSHA 30 hour certification preferred
5 years of demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and operation of digital cameras.
