Co-Ex-Tec, a division of Magna Exteriors, is hiring a Health & Safety Coordinator for our Concord location. If you have a manufacturing background with a minimum of 3 years’ Health & Safety experience in a large production facility, and an innate ability to instil a sense of urgency and drive problems towards resolution in all areas of Health & Safety through strong processes and teamwork, we invite you to join our team.
Develop/modify and deliver Health and Safety Training programs in-house. Follow-up sessions to take place, where appropriate, for each job/department. 2. Maintain and update Health and Safety Orientation Program and conduct Orientation and GHS/WHMIS training for all existing employees as well as all new hires. 3. Maintain the Emergency Response, Machine Entrapment, and Fire Safety Plan Programs and provide training when necessary. 4. Coordinate occupational hygiene assessments and ensure air and noise sampling are conducted when required 5. Assist with conducting accident investigations and ensure full closure of action items. 6. Assist with WSIB Claims Management. 7. Conduct Respirator Fit Testing when necessary. 8. Assist with the coordination of hearing tests, pulmonary tests, forklift medicals, etc. 9. Assist in ensuring all employees adhere to applicable legislative requirements. 10. Develop preventative procedures / methods to reduce and / or eliminate health and safety accidents. 11. Conduct annual ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System Internal Audits. 12. Conduct safety reviews, create risk assessments and associated work instructions of work cells. 13. Maintain the SDS database. Route new or updated SDSs to appropriate personnel to keep them well informed. 14. Responsible for follow-through and follow-up of implementations with engineers, process improvement engineers, production supervisors, production managers, and tool/equipment makers, etc. 15. Promote and ensure Quality Management System (IATF16949), Environmental Management System (ISO14001), and security (CTPAT/PIP) compliance within the department. 16. Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times. 17. Update/create lockout procedures & safety checklists 18. Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area 19. Any other reasonable duty required by Management.
Knowledge and Education
Minimum completion of Post-Secondary diploma in Health and Safety
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a Health & Safety related role within the manufacturing industry
Good working knowledge of office computer skills i.e. Windows NT, Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Thorough understanding of conducting risk assessments.
Understanding of robotic systems, injection moulding, stamping, assembly, extrusion, CNC, tool and die machine shops, and forklifts.
Considerable knowledge in the OHSA, WSIA, Industrial Regulation 851, Construction Projects Regulation 213, Confined Spaces Regulation 632, Designated Substances Regulation 490, WHMIS Regulation 860, and any associated Ontario Regulations, Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, CSA Standards: Z432, Z142, Z434, Z460, Z462, and ANSI Standards: B151.1, and the ACGIH Heat Stress and Strain Standard.
Knowledge in the following would be an asset: CSA Standards: A344, B149.2, B167-16, B334, B354.1, W117, Z94.2, Z94.3, Z94.4, and ANSI Standard Z358.1
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Comfortable and competent trainer in front of large, English as a second language audiences.
Must be very organized and conscientious.
Able to work flexible hours, must provide coverage to all shifts on a regular basis.
