Health Safety and Environmental Technician Job in USA – Katerra
Location: Jersey City, NJ, Stamford, CT, and New Rochelle, NY
Katerra is currently seeking a Construction Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Technician to join our team to support our growing business, ensure the safety and health of our employees, protect the environment, and to support our mission.
The HSE Technician is responsible for implementing construction safety programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards and requirements, implementing key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as verifying and validating that HSE programs are being effectively implemented across the project(s).
The HSE Technician is expected to promote a proactive safety environment and culture by setting the example, providing proactive coaching/mentoring, and helping our construction organization achieve HSE success. The HSE Technician will report to the HSE Lead with a dotted line to Construction organization. This role may be assigned to one project or multiple projects, depending on the business’ needs.
Ensures the safety and well-being of all employees and visitors at project(s).
Leads by example.
Establishes a proactive safety environment and culture.
Works closely with other HSE members and construction organization, regarding all project HSE items.
Implements documents, programs, systems, procedures, and tools needed to execute HSE efficiently and effectively on the project(s).
Proactively assists the HSE team with implementation of HSE regulations, standards, and expectations.
Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly audits at the project(s).
Assist project teams with site orientation and executes HSE training as required.
Assist with toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Ensures a clean and orderly jobsite.
Coaches team members in the field to ensure safe practices and behaviors.
Ensures team members are conducting daily checklists for equipment, etc.
Conducts monthly fire extinguisher and weekly eye wash inspections.
Ensures each project’s first aid kits are up to standards.
Executes training as required.
Helps drive solution resolution of HSE activities and improvement opportunities.
Communicates trends to project(s).
Works collaboratively with existing HSE and Construction team members.
Qualifications and Experience
2 – 5 years of construction HSE experience is required.
Residential and commercial construction experience preferred.
Knowledge of local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Ability to influence others to perform their jobs safely and create a culture of safety.
Excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, follow-up, and closure skills.
Strong leadership skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
