Southwestern Energy is currently the third largest producer of natural gas in the lower 48 states and we operate one of the largest gas gathering systems in the United States.  We own three major assets which are located in northeast Pennsylvania, West Virginia and southwest Pennsylvania, and in Arkansas’ Fayetteville Shale.  

  • Under general supervision, perform HSE assignments requiring broad knowledge of HSE principles, theories, concepts, compliance issues and regulations
  • Under general supervision, provide cost-effective HSE guidance and recommendations to Production, Construction, Water Team, Midstream, Seismic (Field Services Operations) as they strive to achieve maximum economic return while conducting operations which strive for an incident free workplace
  • Develop, gather, and maintain HSE metrics and data for routine HSE reports and regulatory documents
  • Assist corporate HSE group with company-wide HSE initiatives
  • Present developed training courses (Driving, OSHA, etc…) to employees as needed
  • Facilitate formal HSE incident investigations and development of corrective actions together with Operations
  • Assist Operations with ensuring contractor compliance with SWN HSE policies
  • Conduct and/or assist Operations with pre-job safety meetings and post-job reviews
  • Assist in HSE assessments of 3rd party contractors and waste facilities
  • Assist in process hazard assessments
  • Assist with conducting qualitative Industrial Hygiene assessments
  • Provide hands-on support/guidance for occupational health/industrial hygiene hazards
  • Support division in the development and use of risk assessment methodologies and tools for anticipating, identifying and evaluating occupational health hazards
  • Provide field support for IH projects (data collection and document management)
  • Assist Operations in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and Best Management Practices
  • Person needs to be “team-oriented” and willing to learn by integrating with the Operations team and other support groups
  • Ability to interface with federal and state agencies (i.e., OSHA, EPA and State agencies)
  • Assist in emergency response preparedness as it relates to on-site response, and the Incident Command System
  • Will be required on relatively short notice to travel to field locations to provide HSE support to Operations
  • Must be able to respond to after-hour emergencies and be on-call as needed
  • This position will cover the greater Wheeling, WV area
  • Job will require being in the field up to 70% of the time

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Science or Engineering, Environmental or Safety discipline preferred)
  • Oil and Gas experience required
  • Industrial Hygiene required
  • Experience with industrial hygiene programs preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; technical writing skills preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer software
  • Health, Safety and Environmental experience required – experience in HSE programs; requires understanding of HSE regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA)
