The Head of Occupational Health & Safety is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the Occupational Health & Safety function to foster a health and safety management culture, enable the effective control of relevant risk and promote the wellbeing of staff.
Reporting to the Director of HR, the Head will lead on all aspects of health and safety as the trusted professional advisor to the President and the Executive on statutory compliance and best practice; and will have direct oversight of the outsourced occupational health function to ensure its effective delivery.
The Head will be responsible for the development and delivery of the annual Occupational Health & Safety Plan, will monitor progress and will provide regular reports and assurance to the Executive and Council, City’s governing body. The successful candidate will employ demonstrable skills to lead, coach and motivate a small team of professional advisors; and to develop collaborative working relationships with key internal stakeholders, adhere to City’s Health & Safety policy framework and pursue continuous improvement of City’s health and safety management culture.
City is seeking to appoint a talented individual with demonstrable leadership experience in the proactive management of health and safety in a complex organisation, supported by Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent national body).
