Field Safety Technician United States Environmental Services

Primary Function

Responsible for the implementation and adherence to Industrial Services Safety, Health, Environmental, and DOT policies for assigned area including job site safety compliance, safety training/practices, OSHA compliance and conducting safety audit/job site inspections to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Promotes a culture of continual improvement of work processes for reducing health, safety, and environmental risks to ensure a workplace and project where “Working the Right Way, Working the Safe Way” is our priority.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Completes field audits of Industrial work environments (Hydroblasting and Vac Truck OPNS)

Organize and help facilitate Safety Meetings
Issue and maintain PPE inventory. Reviews equipment and equipment modifications for safety and regulatory compliance; maintains safety equipment supply and availability; maintains and calibrates field sampling equipment.

Assist in facilitating drug and alcohol testing
Facilitate JSA development and Safe Work Permit writing.

Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures/practices; maintain orderly checklists and complete and up to date paperwork; ensure high level of accuracy and completeness with attention to detail.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational policies/procedures; follow and promote company and federal DOT, OSHA and other applicable health and safety standards, rules and procedures.

Interface with customer safety professionals and customer contract coordinator; build rapport and productive working relationships with customers, vendors and other outside agents; effectively represent company’s and customer’s interest to maximize profits.

Works with managers to ensure integration of EH&S program into operations; build and maintain rapport and positive working relations with managers to resolve problems; within reason, does what it takes to meet and exceed the expectations of the company.

Assists supervisors in review of accidents to determine root causes and determination of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Adheres to the policies and procedures; promptly reports concerns or potential violations in accordance with reporting procedures and recommends corrective actions.

Assist management with the development and on-going implementation of their HSE Management System processes for controlling workplace risks.

Conducts job observations and incident/accident investigations; performs hazard recognition awareness to remove all hazards from the workplace ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Work turnarounds at customer sites day, night and weekends as needed; Follow good time management practices.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and training.

Communicate clearly and effectively with other employees, provide input and constructive suggestions.



GED or High School Diploma required and 1 years progressively responsible industrial experience with HSE Background or NCCER Supervisor experience; or

College Degree in engineering/science preferred (e.g. mechanical, environmental, health, chemistry, industrial, safety and health sciences) and 2 years experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT and local laws, regulations, codes, standards, and best industry practices for HSE. Knowledge of company safety polices/procedures, industrial cleaning equipment and instant job hazard recognition; fundamental knowledge of health & safety compliance and operational safety procedures; good fundamental mechanical skills

Computer Skills

Intermediate Level: Fully proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and some basic understanding of other Microsoft products. Full understanding of Email and Internet. Ability to assist others with any word or excel questions.


Valid Driver’s License

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

First Aid and CPR by recognized organization

OSHA, Confined Space, and MSHA certifications


Emergency Response

EMT Basic
