Our client is a family-owned well established food manufacturer located in San Bernardino. They are seeking a Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The position is permanent full time, and will be a direct hire.
Works closely with staff in all departments, Human Resources and Management team.
Provides technical safety information to production and other personnel.
Prepares written safety programs and policies.
Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
Develops annual safety goals.
Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
Supports plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety hazards.
Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Maintains safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).
Promotes safety awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs.
Serves as member of the executive and safety committee.
Participates in company occupational safety and health committee.
Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations.
Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum Associates degree, Trade or Technical school certificate3-5 years full-time safety and health experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area may be expected.
