Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager Job in United States
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina Area
The EHS Manager plans, directs, and implements Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance and to identify and resolve EHS deficiencies. The EHS Manager will champion EHS continuous improvement towards the goal of achieving world-class performance. Plans and implements Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, guidelines and standards pertinent to the location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Integral part of the company’s operations team with responsibility in all aspects of environmental, health, and safety initiatives at the site.
Oversees the EHS compliance and continuous improvement programs for the Charlotte, NC location.
Oversees all aspects of the industrial hygiene program.
Conducts gap analysis to determine EHS priorities.
Manages and directs all aspects of site’s safety program including training activities, safety committee management, process safety initiatives, and incident investigations.
Responsible for safety related systems in the facilities including; security, fire protection, personal protective management, first aid supplies, etc.
Work with HR to in the administration of the workers’ compensation program as well as occupational health and worker disability issues.
Identifies and suggests corrective measures to improve the site’s incident experience and to implement means to achieve site’s EHS goals.
Leads the investigation of incidents and works to determine and implement effective corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
Ensures that mandatory environmental and safety reporting is completed and submitted in advance of established deadlines to respective agencies (AMS, DEP, EPA, OSHA, etc.).
Maintains EHS files and records.
Interacts with EHS regulatory agencies during site inspections.
Plans and implements environmental programs and prepares/submits environmental reports in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
Perform other EHS duties as assigned.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in EHS related field (science, engineering).
8-10 years related experience and/or training in Environmental Health and Safety; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience with ergonomics programs, industrial hygiene, worker’s compensation, PSM, accident investigations and regulatory compliance and reporting.
Strong Team focus.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to interface cross functionally.
Ability to stay organized, prioritize & follow-through.
Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
