Space management is all about how a driver can manage the space around his vehicle, either in front, by the side or behind. What you can do, or must do always depends on the space you have.

Open Conditions: This means that you have a space or a larger area which you can drive without restrictions. This gives you the liberty to increase speed, reduce speed or swap lanes at will.

Closed Conditions: A closed zone means that the zone it is not available for your car’s path of travel, either that there is a restriction to the drivers view or that space is unavailable in a particular zone. So you do not have the liberty to increase speed, reduce speed or swap lane the way you would love to.

Changing Conditions: This often occurs when the driving situation changes from an open to a closed zone. Changing conditions can include speed limits, roadway or weather conditions, lane width, environmental conditions, visibility, traffic flow, time of day, traffic controls, etc. You must always determine your current condition to know the best decision to take.
