Two tools have been made available by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) to assist companies in meeting the mental health requirements of their employees.
To assist Canadian companies in fostering a positive work environment for mental health, the government agency published a free Workplace Mental Health Toolkit.
According to CCOHS, the online toolkit enables managers, supervisors, and business owners to create a work environment where staff members feel appreciated, safe, and respected.
“Creating an environment where employees feel supported and valued not only improves their well-being but also strengthens organizations,” says Anne Tennier, president and CEO of the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety. “This toolkit can help employers start their journey toward a mental health program in the workplace.”
The CCOHS toolkit has educational videos, useful checklists, infographics, posters, and podcasts to assist in creating a robust mental health program, addressing risks and hazards, and having fruitful discussions with coworkers about mental health. It also draws a link between other human rights concerns and mental health.
According to prior research, the demand for mental health services has significantly increased since the epidemic, and an increasing number of Canadians are turning to their employers for support.
